Network migration Belnem

As part of the FttH project, customers will migrate to a new network. In most areas the network migration and the migration to fiber will take place at the same time, but in some areas the network migration will be carried out beforehand.

Currently we are working on a network migration in Belnem. Since network cables need to be reconnected a brief service interruption may occur. We will do our utmost to make this migration as smooth as possible. For additional information customers may contact our helpdesk at 9212 or 9220.

Quality of service
First of all this new technology results in a better data signal to your home minimizing the chance of service interruptions. We are also able to solve a large number of interruptions much faster because modems and setup boxes can be read and adjusted remotely.

In addition a new automated system contributes to a more efficient handling of your customer enquiries. In the near future a login code will provide access to your online TELBO account which enables you to apply for new services and to view your invoices online.

New services
The network migration is part of the construction of an island wide fibre-optic network, the so called Fiber to the Home (FttH) project. With this project TELBO aims to continue to provide sustainable, high-quality telecommunications services for the community of Bonaire. Connected to fiber we are able to offer you significantly higher internet speed and new innovative services such as HDTV.

Change of invoice
Together with the arrival of a new network TELBO will implement a new billing system. This requires the recurring charges for telephone, television and Internet to be billed in advance, and the variable costs (phone calls) to be invoiced afterwards.

In the current situation, all customers receive an invoice before the 14th of the month in which they are billed for the fixed and variable costs of the past month. A customer who migrates in a specific month will therefore simultaniously receive two invoices; an invoice related to recurring charges for the next month and an invoice for the recurring charges and variable costs of the past month.

Customers who object to be billed for two invoices in one month may apply for extension of payment for the invoice referring to the recurring charges and variable costs of the past month. Customers who object to the proposed advance payment of the fixed costs, may terminate their contract in accordance with the terms and conditions.

We also would like to inform that your customer number at TELBO will change. You will find your new customer or account that starts with 700xxxx on the right top corner of your bill.

For example: A customer migrates on October 25 and uses a 3-play package including home phone. On November 10 the migrated customer will receive an invoice for the recurring charges of the 3 play package including the variable costs for phone of the month October. On the same day this customer will also receive an invoice for the recurring chrges of the 3 play package for November. On December 10, this customer will receive an invoice for recurring charges of the 3 play package December including the variable costs of November.

Change of contract

In a number of cases a contract will change after migration as a rusult of a service and or rate change. This applies to the following services:

1. Customers who are using a Fireball contract (4 Mbps Internet + TV) will automatically migrate to a 2 Play contract (5 Mbps internet + TV).
2. Customers who are currently using a single play Internet connection of 1 Mbps, 2Mbps, or 4Mbps will automatically be upgraded to 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps
    connection, depending on the cost a customer pays now. In some cases, a customer will be facing a marginal increase or reduction in price.
3. Customers who signed up for a single play MiTV contract before 1 July 2013 will be billed a marginal price increase as a result of higher operational costs.

In all cases, the contract period and effective date of existing contracts remain unchanged. Customers who object to the proposed service change may terminate their contract in accordance with the terms and conditions. Below you will find an overview of the rate per month and service changes.

Customers who have signed up for one or more contracts after June 2013 will not undergo a change of service and would therfore not need to sign a new contract. The table below gives an overview of unmodified services:

Switch to 2-Play or 3-Play
There are customers who have signed separate contracts in the past for single play MiTV, single play Internet and/or home phone, for which separate amounts are being invoiced. These customers are given the option to switch to a cost effective 2-Play package (TV and 5 Mbps internet) or 3-Play package (TV, 5 Mbps internet and telephone with unlimited calls to fixed numbers). Customers who wish to switch will have to sign a new contract. The options are:
